The The New Tradition is book all about photography, written especially for photographers. It comprises 100 of Peter Eastway's favourite photographs taken over the past 20 years or so, and tracing the development from film through to digital, the darkroom to Lightroom. Each photograph is accompanied by a small anecdote or fable, some are purely instructional, others quite humorous!

The early pages talk about the darkroom and how early influences changed his direction, from following the classic approach of Ansel Adams to the new world of Eddie Ephraums and his modern use of tones, bleaches and textures. This change helped him win the Australian Professional Photographer of the Year award - twice!

As the editor of Better Photography magazine, Peter was an early adopter of the digital workflow and post-production. He quickly gained a reputation for pushing the boundaries when it came to colour and contrast, taking what he had learned in the darkroom and applying it to Photoshop. Even today, his image remain contemporary and a great source of inspiration for many.

The book traces the development of both technology and style, coming full circle to classic black and whites - in both the Ansel Adams and Eddie Ephraums style.
